BATTLE MENU

SPEAK: Has a 34% chance to simply speak; a 33% chance to restore 1 EN; and a 33% chance to increase Dexterity by 3 or 5 points (with equal probability), but only for the next turn.
USE CARDS: Allows you to perform specific actions—such as unleashing a special attack without consuming EN, restoring HP, or other effects—by using cards that have been purchased or acquired.

CALL FOR HELP: This is a "special" menu that allows you to summon characters to your aid, provided you have obtained their corresponding Cards. They can be summoned only once per battle and only under specific conditions—most notably, you must have fewer than 25 Health Points remaining. There are also specific events where the hero is alone and cannot receive support from either teammates or Helpers. The full roster of Helpers includes: Jabu of the Unicorn; Nachi the Wolf & Geki of the Bear; Ichi of the Hydra & Ban of the Little Lion; the 5 Minor Bronze Saints (as a single move); Daichi of the Earth, Ushio of the Sea, and Sho of the Sky; the 3 Steel Saints (as a single move: the Steel Hurricane); June of the Chameleon; Mu of Aries; Aiolia of Leo; Kiki; Kanon in the Gemini Cloth; Sorrento with his sweet Flute; and Master Dohko (young version in the Libra Cloth).

BATTLE MENU

FIGHT: SIMPLE PUNCH: low damage with a high chance of hitting. QUICK PUNCH: medium-low damage with a medium-high chance of hitting. MULTIPLE PUNCH: 3 consecutive Rapid Punches; medium-high damage, medium-low chance of hitting. POWERFUL PUNCH: a punch that knocks the enemy down; high damage, low chance of hitting. SPECIAL ATTACK: Each Saint possesses special attacks that can be executed via a specific button combination. Each special move has a unique combination; entering the wrong sequence results in a failure and the loss of the turn. EXPAND COSMOS: Cosmos vary by type and level. The Cosmos types are: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Divine. Each type has levels; once expanded, the Cosmos’ value decays back to its base level over subsequent turns, dropping by 100, 200, or 300 points per turn. It cannot be expanded again until it returns to its base level. A Level 1 Bronze Cosmos provides a +100 bonus upon expansion and decays by 100 points over one turn. A Level 2 Bronze Cosmos grants +200 and decays over two turns; Level 3 grants +300 and decays over three turns, and so on. A Level 1 Silver Cosmos grants +200 and decays by 200 points in a single turn; Level 2 grants +400 and decays over two turns; Level 3 grants +600 and decays over three turns, and so on. A Level 1 Gold Cosmos grants +300 and decays by 300 points in one turn; Level 2 grants +600 and decays over two turns, and so on. Finally, a Divine Cosmos grants +1000 and decays over one turn. Divine Cosmos do not have levels. PARRY: blocks the enemy's attack. COUNTERATTACK: Blocks the enemy's strike and, if successful, also lands a Quick Punch.

SKILL EXPANSION

Winning battles earns you "rewards." These can be special cards or unique items, but—most importantly—you gain money (Yen) and ability upgrades. Random encounters yield only money, but defeating a standard enemy (such as Geki, Nachi Black Pegasus, or Moses) gives you the chance to boost one of your abilities. You can choose from four options: Attack (+1), Defense (+1), Cosmos (+50), and Dexterity (+1). Defeating a boss (like Ikki, Misty, or Shaina), on the other hand, allows you to upgrade two of these same abilities. Additionally, each Saint has a character level, an Armor level, and a Punch level; special events are required to raise them.

MAPS - CHARSETS - BATTLESETS

For the maps, we decided to replace the original anime-based settings with maps recreated pixel-by-pixel—as faithfully as possible—to ensure the highest level of fidelity to the source material. We also sought to give depth and significance to the dialogue within the maps; rather than reducing the game to mere combat, we wanted to offer opportunities for exploration and the discovery of hidden secrets. The character Sprites (CharSets) were designed to reflect the traits of the TV series' characters while aiming for a wide variety of visual styles. By "BattleSets," we refer to the animation Frames used during combat; we opted to use the same Frame dimensions found in MUGEN, aiming to provide visual variety in the characters' movements and special moves.

THE SHOP
Throughout the adventure, our heroes can gain experience, level up, and grow stronger through combat; however, they can also acquire special items, upgrades, and more from Kiki’s shop (or, in some cases, Lady Saori’s) in exchange for Yen earned during the game.
The shop also allows players to sell surplus consumable items to recoup some Yen.

GAME MENU
During the game, it is almost always possible to access your menu, which consists of eight icons appearing around the active character; some of these icons branch out into sub-menus.

BACKPACK - ITEM MENU

The BACKPACK represents the inventory where all items collected during the adventure will be stored, as well as various other sub-inventories such as the Encyclopedia and the Helper menu.

The ENCYCLOPEDIA, organized by category, gathers all information on the various characters encountered throughout the adventure.

ARMOR is used to equip or remove one's armor; it is divided into four sub-icons, one for each hero in the party (in this case, for example, Seiya and Shiryu do not possess the armor).

EXITS
EXITS allows you to display one or more small hand icons on the map (for a few seconds) indicating the points where you can access adjacent maps. It can also be used multiple times in succession if needed.

SAVE/QUIT

The SAVE icon allows you to save your game progress; 99 different slots are available. It is not always active; normally, you can save while on the Tokyo main map, when near Kiki or Lady Saori, or when the game explicitly prompts you to do so. You can also assign a custom name to the save file, making it easier to locate a specific starting point when you have multiple saves.
QUIT closes the game; remember to save first, or you will lose your recent progress and have to restart from your last save!

DAMAGE TO ARMORS

Each armor can reach 3 levels: Level 1: 90 hit points; Level 2: 120 hit points; Level 3: 150 hit points (maximum).
Enemies have various types of attacks: a simple punch (can damage the Saint's health but not the armor); a rapid punch (same as the simple punch); a multiple punch (same as the previous two); a powerful punch (can damage both the Saint's health and the armor in 40% of cases, with varying degrees of damage); and a special attack (like the powerful punch, but with a 50% hit probability and generally higher damage).
The hit point thresholds at which the armor begins to fail are as follows: below 50 HP, visual signs of armor damage appear; below 45 HP, Defense and Cosmos decrease; below 30 HP, Defense and Cosmos drop further; and below 15 HP, the armor no longer provides any bonuses.
Mu acts as an armor repairer: he repairs damage in exchange for 5 units of Stardust or creates a repair potion. With this potion, Kiki will also be able to repair armor damage.
